1. Introduction

Task & Trade (“we”, “our”, or “us”) provides a mobile application that combines Jobs (task and job listings), Market (buy and sell products), and Social (community posts). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you use the Task & Trade app and related services (the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

This page is intended for App Store, Play Store, and in-app links. For a short in-app summary, open Account → Privacy & Security inside the app.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account & profile: Name, email address, phone number, country, gender (optional), profile photo, and job description/bio.
  • Sign-in: Email address and one-time verification codes. We do not store your password in the app; sign-in uses secure email verification (WorkOS).
  • Content: Job posts, product listings, community posts, comments, likes, images, messages, offers, and reviews.
  • Location on listings: Suburb, city, or area text you add to posts; optional device location when you use location features to sort or show nearby listings.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device & app: Device type, operating system, app version, and identifiers needed for notifications and security.
  • Usage: Features used, interactions with posts and messages, and general app activity needed to operate and improve the Service.
  • Push notification token: If you allow notifications, a device token is used to deliver alerts (e.g. via OneSignal).
  • Purchases: Posting fees are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive purchase status from the store, not your full payment card details.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and manage your account and profile
  • Authenticate you and keep your session secure
  • Display and moderate jobs, products, and community content
  • Enable messaging, offers, follows, and notifications
  • Process in-app purchases for paid posting features
  • Filter content by country or region where you have selected a country
  • Prevent abuse, fraud, and violations of our terms
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
  • Improve reliability, security, and user experience

4. Legal bases (where applicable)

Depending on your location, we process data based on: performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), legitimate interests (security, improvement, fraud prevention), your consent (e.g. notifications or optional location), and legal obligations.

5. Storage, security & retention

Data is hosted on Supabase (database and file storage) with access controls including row-level security tied to your account. Connections use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures, including:

  • Secure authentication tokens (not storing app passwords)
  • Access limits so users only access data the app allows
  • Monitoring for abuse and security issues

We retain information while your account is active and as needed to operate the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal requirements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise personal data within a reasonable period (typically within 30 days), except where law requires longer retention.

6. Third-party services

The Service may use trusted providers, including:

  • WorkOS — email sign-in and authentication
  • Supabase — database, storage, and backend APIs
  • OneSignal — push notifications (if enabled)
  • Apple App Store / Google Play — in-app purchases and billing
  • Device location services — when you choose to use location-based features (via your device OS)

These providers process data under their own policies and our instructions where applicable. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing.

7. Sharing of information

We may share information:

  • With other users — as part of public or in-app features (e.g. profile, posts, messages you send)
  • With service providers — who help us run hosting, auth, notifications, and payments
  • For legal reasons — if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and security
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required

8. Your rights & choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access and receive a copy of your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate profile information (in-app or by contacting us)
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based (e.g. notifications via device settings)
  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

In the app you can edit your profile, manage many posts from My Posts, and sign out from Account. Sign-out removes local session data; your server-side data remains until deletion is requested.

9. Messages & payments

Messages: Chat and offer threads are stored so you can view history. Do not share passwords, banking PINs, or sensitive financial details in chat. Payments for jobs or products between users are arranged by you outside the app unless otherwise stated in the app.

In-app fees: Fees for posting jobs or products are shown before purchase and charged through Apple or Google. Refunds follow the store’s policies.

10. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live (including where our hosting or service providers operate). We take steps designed to protect your information in line with this policy.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy where permitted by law.


Delete your account

Warning: Account deletion is permanent. You will lose access to your profile, jobs, products, messages, and community posts tied to your account.

How to request deletion

Step 2: Subject line: Account Deletion Request — Task & Trade
Step 3: Include your registered email, name, and confirmation that you want permanent deletion
Step 4: We may verify your identity, then process the request
Step 5: You will receive confirmation when deletion is complete (usually within 30 days)

What is deleted

  • Profile and account information
  • Jobs, products, and community posts you created
  • Messages and related content linked to your account
  • Uploaded photos and listing media
  • Follow relationships and in-app preferences

What may be retained

  • Anonymised or aggregated statistics that cannot identify you
  • Records required for tax, fraud prevention, or legal compliance
  • Short-term encrypted backups (up to 30 days), then removed
